Dennis Kim first joined EVS in 1980 as a consultant. He became the Vice President in 1981, then the owner in 1982. When Dennis started at EVS, they were working on environmental engineering projects. It was Dennis who had the vision of bringing EVS into the renewable energy industry because of his passion for our future generations to live in a cleaner environment.
Dennis’ favorite part about EVS is the people. “We’ve been very successful because of the great people working here…. It’s fun to work with great people; people here do a good job.” Dennis. In his time outside of the office, Dennis enjoys golfing, biking, cross country skiing, playing piano, and singing.
Dennis is also involved in the Chamber Music Society of Minnesota, Minnesota Chorale, and Rotary Youth Exchange Programs.
President, Andy Kim, started working at EVS in January of 2004, first assisting with Marketing and Human Resources roles. As his father, Dennis, transitioned into Chairman of the Board, Andy prepared to transition into the Presidential role at EVS.
Andy’s top priority is having a company culture that is fun and flexible, no matter the size of the company. He enjoys the variety of work and the people at EVS. Andy is passionate and excited about the company’s growth potential as we pioneer our way into the renewable energy industry.
Andy enjoys playing sports like golf, tennis and ping-pong, and enjoys spending time with family and friends at the cabin.
Sohan Das is the Vice President of Renewable Energy at EVS. He has a Master’s Degree in Sustainable Energy from State University of New York, Buffalo. He has been working in the solar industry since 2009, and is extremely passionate about renewable energy and the new technologies in our industry that create power. “The leadership at EVS is committed to renewable energy.”
He also appreciates the energetic people he works with, and the many good clients. In his free time, he likes to watch soccer, play cricket, golf, swim, bike, and do anything else outdoors, including running half marathons.
Sometimes he volunteers to do solar installation work in low-income communities, and is also involved with Habitat for Humanity and Children International.
Paul Vogel is the Vice President of Finance and Administration. Paul came to EVS with over 20 years of experience in the professional services industry and real estate development industry, but he was striving to focus on a career in renewable energy.
“EVS is well positioned in the solar industry, and I am looking forward to the challenges of providing financial leadership for the organization as it rapidly expands to serve the renewable energy market. I am passionate about renewable energy and the impact it will have in making a positive impact on our planet.” Paul.
In Paul's free time, he enjoys running, biking, and reading. Paul also serves on the board of St. Therese, a local nonprofit providing housing and skilled nursing care at five locations in Minnesota to serve the needs of the elderly in Minnesota.
Rob Kack is the Senior Director of Civil, Structural, Geotech and Survey, having been with EVS on the civil engineering team since 2000. Rob initially started out working on military projects at EVS, and has supported EVS through the transition into the renewable energy industry.
Rob has been a major leader on developing the civil engineering and survey departments that EVS has today. Outside of EVS, Rob likes to play golf, spend time at the company cabin, take hikes with his wife, and travel.
Noah Waterhouse joined EVS in 2004 as a Civil Engineer and has grown into his position today as the Senior Director of Project Management & Quality.
At EVS he enjoys the work-life flexibility, the people, and the variety of projects EVS works on. During his free time, Noah likes to go hunting, fishing, play sports, and explore with motorized toys.
Raj Pawar joined EVS in 2017 as a Mechanical Engineer before climbing to Director of PV & BESS where his team delivered 20GW+ of Solar PV and 5GWh+ of BESS projects across North America. He also served as an original host of EVS' Sounds of Solar podcast.
Now as Director of Client Management & Innovation, Raj focuses on client development, relationships, business growth, and fostering innovation across the entire company to enhance services and drive forward-thinking solutions.
In his free time, Raj enjoys spending time with his family, cooking, and trying new foods.
Teresa Lassegard joined EVS in 1992 and has worn many hats at EVS. Teresa is currently the Director of Project Administration, but she has also spent time overseeing the HR, marketing, accounting and administrative efforts at EVS.
Outside of the office, Teresa can often be found walking around the Minneapolis lakes and along the Parkway (trying to beat yesterday’s steps goal), hiking, traveling to achieve visiting all 50 states, and enjoying some wine with family and friends.
Aaron Carrillo began his career at Tesla, managing teams of 60+ designers and team leaders to deploy thousands of solar projects nationwide before transitioning to utility-scale solar where he managed over 1 GW of PV and 400+ MWh of BESS. Now as Director, Aaron oversees a growing team and a pipeline exceeding 1+ GW of solar and 1+ GWh of BESS at EVS, leveraging his technical and leadership expertise to tackle complex client challenges.
In his free time Aaron enjoys spending time with his family, rock climbing, wood working and eating at new restaurants.
Jeremy Schultz is the Director of Civil Engineering and is a registered Professional Engineer. Jeremy has many years of engineering experience in the areas of solar site design, water resources, site design and transportation.
Jeremy enjoys running, hiking, and traveling during his time outside of work. Jeremy likes to teach his kids new activities, like how to snowboard and ski, and a lot of sports such as basketball, swimming, baseball, gymnastics, golf and soccer.
Lee O'Neal is the Director of Substation with over 35 years of experience in leading utility operations, construction, design and maintenance teams in both power generation and distribution. Lee possesses the skills required for the creation, development and implementation of business strategies while building teams and relationships. Lee has experienced with solving complex problems, change management and continuous improvement.
On his free time, Lee loves to travel, his favorite location is Alaska. He enjoys hunting, fishing, gardening and woodworking. Lee has two dogs named Proton and Tesla, and he has a large family with 4 kids and 2 grandchildren that he likes to spend his time outside of work with.
Michael Carlson is the Director of Power Studies at EVS. Michael has been in the power industry since 2004, and in the renewable industry since 2009.
Michael has designed and managed the power study engineering for over 1200 MW’s of solar projects, and has also designed and managed the engineering for multiple distribution projects, transmission projects, substation projects, and over 4 GW’s of collection and studies work for wind installations.
Outside of work, Michael focuses on spending quality time with his family, and watching and playing sports.
Divya Divakaran is the Director of Human Resources at EVS. Divya has a Masters degree in Business Administration and has been working in Human Resources since 2006.
Divya joined EVS in early 2021 and she enjoys that her position is ever changing to improve many different areas of the company. “I absolutely love the diversity and culture at EVS. The leadership is people oriented and just don’t preach the core values but lead by being an example”. Divya.
Divya also serves on the Board of Minnesota Malayalee Association and volunteers at SAATH, a local non profit that promotes cultural diversity and social harmony in the community.
She enjoys dancing, fashion designing and promotes sustainable fashion. During her free time she enjoys reading books, hiking, biking and primarily exploring nature with her family.
Laine Warwick started working for EVS in 2012 as an Administrative Assistant and has grown her way up to her current role as Controller.
At EVS, Laine enjoys the people she works with and the learning opportunities that come along with being involved in many different areas of accounting, business administration and management.
In her free time, Laine enjoys traveling, gardening, building Legos, and spending time at her family’s lake cabin.
Joining EVS in 2024, Christine is a skilled marketer with 25 years in branding, content strategy, and business development. Skilled in crafting compelling narratives and executing strategies that drive growth, Christine is a creative designer with a keen eye for impactful storytelling.
In her free time, Christine is a seasoned and published photographer, and avid volunteer in arts, education, military, and police programs. (She also delights in being called grandma by the cutest little blonde dollies!)
Scott Alwin joined EVS in 2018 as a Land Surveyor, and is now a Survey Manager. Scott has extensive experience in drafting surveys and processing drone LiDAR and photogrammetry. He also is experienced in the field performing all types of traditional surveys and drone surveys.
Scott is the drone expert at EVS and has allowed our survey team to stay up to date on all drone survey technologies. Scott has helped build the survey department significantly since starting at EVS in 2018.
Outside of his career, Scott spends a lot of time at his cabin hanging out with family and friends.
Colin Paarman joined EVS in 2021 and maintains experience in the power delivery industry, leading
substation design teams at voltage levels from 4kV to 345kV for
a variety of renewable and utility clients. Colin has also worked
on a variety of projects; renewable collector substations, utility
transmission switchyards, and GIS substations. He has extensive
knowledge of substation structural design including numerous
foundation types, steel structures, tensioned line loading, and
rigid bus design.
Abby Reetz joined EVS in 2020 with experience in professional structural engineering. Since then she has a added to that solar structural design with 200+ MW of solar, focusing on utility-scale projects. Abby works closely with the civil and electrical engineering teams at EVS to provide high quality multidisciplinary project work.
Erik Johnson is the Geotechnical Manager and has helped build the entire Geotechnical team at EVS. Erik has multiple years of engineering experience in the solar, commercial and residential market sectors.
For the past seven years, Erik has focused on the geotechnical engineering for large scale solar projects.
In his free time, Erik takes a lot of road trips and likes to travel around the country. Erik also enjoys spending time at the EVS cabin with his teammates.
Having joined EVS in 2021, Byron has more than 35-years of water resources experience in the areas of hazard mitigation, flood response and recovery, stormwater CIP planning and design, stormwater infrastructure inventory and analysis, detailed hydrologic and hydraulic
modeling, watershed studies, stormwater master planning,
municipal stormwater program and policy development,
municipal stormwater NPDES permitting, stormwater user fees, and green infrastructure planning and design.
Jason Berger joined EVS in 2024 to lead the development of its SCADA team, bringing over a decade of experience in designing and delivering SCADA software systems for electrical utilities worldwide. By expanding the firm's SCADA knowledge base, Jason enhances EVS’s ability to deliver efficient, reliable, and scalable solutions for the evolving renewable energy market.
Outside of EVS, Jason enjoys playing amateur baseball in the summer, and has been left-handed his whole life. He and his wife love to travel and get outside in the Twin Cities on its many bike lanes, trails, and waterways.
At the end of 2017, EVS established the EVS C.A.R.E.S (Charity-Assistance-Relief-Empathy-Service) Foundation with the goal of being able to do more to enrich our community and give back. The funds in the foundation are designated to be used only to support 501(c)(3) organizations.
EVS intends to support a variety of causes and focuses primarily on charities targeted at hunger relief, disaster relief, medical aid, disease cure and prevention, education and other humanitarian efforts directed at economically disadvantaged individuals.
Employees are also encouraged to support their favorite charities through paid volunteering time off and a donation matching program which allows employees donations to eligible 501(c)(3) organizations to be matched by the EVS C.A.R.E.S Foundation.
Since 2015, EVS celebrates Pi Day (March 14th) as our client appreciation day by delivering pie to our clients and partners across the U.S. The goal of pie day is to express our thanks to everyone who has helped EVS grow, and our partners and clients are major contributors to why EVS has been able to blossom into the company it is today.
We also host an event at our office with pie and pizza for us to celebrate our clients and the relationships we have created in our industry.
Educate Tanzania is a non-profit company focused on educating communities in Tanzania to enhance social and economic prosperity. EVS is a proud sponsor of ETI through our EVS C.A.R.E.S foundation.
ETI and EVS C.A.R.E.S. share a similar goal in supporting education in our communities. With our work together, ETI and EVS C.A.R.E.S. has provided funding and planning for a solar and storage system, among other engineering and educational projects in Tanzania.
